NEWS RELEASE (#2025-11)
Official Dates Announced for the 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships in Hualien
The International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) and the Chinese Taipei Dragon Boat Association are pleased to announce the official dates for the 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships (CCWC2026), to be held in Hualien, Chinese Taipei from Saturday, 29 August to Sunday, 6 September 2026.
This milestone event will bring together club crews from around the world to compete in one of the sport’s most prestigious championships, set against the tranquil natural beauty of Liyu Lake in Hualien.
The confirmed dates reflect a collaborative effort led by IDBF President Claudio Schermi, supported by the Chairs of the Youth, Athletes, and Women’s Commissions, and endorsed by the IDBF Council, to ensure greater inclusion of Youth athletes. Their advocacy played a pivotal role in shaping a schedule that enables broader participation and supports the next generation of paddlers.
“Youth athletes represent the future of our sport,” said President Schermi. “The IDBF deeply appreciates the Chinese Taipei Dragon Boat Association’s commitment to delivering a successful championship for all, and for embracing our shared vision of sustainable growth and inclusivity in dragon boating.”
The IDBF celebrates the incredible commitment of Breast Cancer Paddler (BCP) crews, many of whom will be racing at the IBCPC event in France before heading to Hualien. Their determination to take part in both events reflects the strength, unity, and global spirit of the dragon boat community.
With two weeks of high-profile dragon boat racing unfolding across continents, this wave of competition highlights the strength of international collaboration and the enduring spirit of the dragon boat sport.
